DARK FUTURES Toronto – SOLD OUT!
November 28, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EST
DARK FUTURES is brought to you by Nikolas Badminton, Futurist, and the team that brought you the Cyborg Camp YVR, From Now: Humanity with Technology, and PRODUCT events. Society goes about their daily routine oblivious to the psychological, physiological, macroeconomic and technological forces at work. Are we sleepwalking? Can we wake up to what is happening and affect it? Do we even have a choice?
Many conferences talk about the incredible possibilities that are delivered by innovations, this conference speaks about the hidden systems that affect our daily lives (whether we are aware of it or not). Today is darker than ever and we are going deeper…
- Oksana Andreiuk -You’re already a cyborg and it’s about to get weirder.
- Calla Lee – Tinder³
- Melissa Eshaghbeigi – It’s 2039, you’re either stressed, depressed or cancelled.
- Geoff Snack – New materiality: Things that don’t exist
- Nikola Danaylov – NeoTechnocracy: The Future is Worse than You Think
And, Nikolas Badminton, Futurist, will guide us through the evening with a few facts and stories that will really make you question your life entirely. Seriously, why do you spend so much time there?
Please note: Line-up and/or talk titles may be subject to change. This event is also non-refundable.
DARK FUTURES rules of engagement
We are a fair, open-minded event. We have zero tolerance for lack of tolerance to other beautiful humans. That means no sexist, racist, right-wing, super-uncool POVs shared. Love is love even in the context of our Dark Futures.
Our speakers go dark. They’re informative. They state warnings for people/businesses to take away. It’s cool to talk about hope for the future, just make sure we are covering challenging ground.
We are most grateful to our friends at Startwell in providing the amazing venue for this event. Startwell is Toronto’s happiest place for meetings, events and offices, therefore perfect for Dark Futures. Seriously, it’s a seriously cool co-working space.
This event is also supported by and in support of Speculative Futures Toronto. Through talks, workshops, panels, prototyping sessions, they aim to imagine possibilities, create the futures we collectively want and explore timely topics of interest. Please consider joining them.
Yet again, world-renowned futurist Nikolas Badminton pushes thinking and what it means to create compelling events that change the way you look at the modern world.
