Studio Manager

November 8, 2021

SOCIAL: The role is customer facing and requires a social skill set – you must be comfortable directing guests on campus to various spaces for meetings and productions and also enjoy working with our dynamic and diverse coworking member population & production teams working on campus during bookings. You must be comfortable touring our spaces, supporting productions and offering a friendly hand when here at work. Self-driven happy folks thrive in our environment.

TECHNICAL: You must have experience in a media production studio setting – productions at StartWell Studios are often self-enclosed with teams bringing in owned and rented gear for their work during their bookings but we also have a bunch of grip and lighting equipment plus cameras (Blackmagic Pocket 6K + Canon 90Ds + EF lenses) for our own internal production work. At times clients will need support with recommendations on setup as well as help rigging equipment using our scaffold, ladders and ceiling truss. As well, we produce content internally for our digital magazine – you’ll be the primary support responsible for equipment setup, management and teardown during these small productions (typically up to 4 cameras on fixed positions using ATEM switchers for multi-cam streaming and recording + Resolve for post-editing.)

HOSPITALITY: Our studio has an espresso bar which you will be using to brew coffee and prepare beverages for cast and crew at times – you must be excited to meet new people when at work at StartWell and by the opportunity to perfect your latte art and enable the happy caffeination of guests on campus.

FLEXIBILITY: Because productions may happen early in the morning, late at night or into a weekend your schedule may be flexible but typically no more than 40hrs/week. Also – you may be either based at reception at StartWell on King St or at StartWell studios, just a 3 minute walk around the corner on Niagara St.

Days at StartWell are fun and rewarding for the right people in this role who love social interaction, learning, working with a small team and contributing to the wellbeing of others.

Salary: $35,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
