Most communications teams know they need more video: leadership perspectives, program stories, alumni voices, social cutdowns. They also know that one shoot usually means weeks of planning, a rented location, a crew, and footage that all looks the same because it was filmed against one backdrop.
Venture for Canada wanted to skip all of that. CEO Steven Wang, Ren Kamal (Manager, Learning Design and Fellowship Academy) and Daniela Lockie (Senior Manager, Marketing) came to our closed-set studios on King Street West for a single content day. They left with a library of professional video in three distinct formats, all shot in under three hours.
What we produced
We ran the session across three pre-configured sets, each designed for a different kind of content:
A two-person conversation set for interview-style dialogue between team members. A podcast-style set for longer, relaxed discussion. A direct-to-camera set for what Ren Kamal called "masterclass" content: a single speaker delivering expertise straight to the viewer. We changed the background and set decor between takes, so this one set produced several visually distinct looks.
The result is footage that looks like it was shot over several days in different locations. As Daniela put it, marketers need content that doesn't show "the same background" every time.
How a StartWell content day works
Our team handles the full production cycle. In pre-production, we plan formats, talking points and the shot list with your team, so your speakers don't have to prepare much. Our sets are lit, mic'd and camera-ready before you arrive, and your people just walk on and talk. In post-production, we edit and deliver finished assets ready for your channels.
"It was incredibly simple," Steven said. "We were able to come in without too much preparatory work, sit down, and have really high-quality, professional outputs very quickly."
What the team said
Daniela Lockie has run an in-house studio and has also brought crews to outside locations. She described this day as different from both: "It was seamless. I don't think I've ever had this seamless of a content day ever." She added that the experience is changing how she plans to approach content creation going forward.
For Ren Kamal, who leads learning design for Venture for Canada's Fellowship Academy, the bigger opportunity is what comes next: bringing alumni and future participants into the studio to share their own journeys.
Why this matters for communications leaders
Brand storytelling now depends on steady volume and variety: executive thought leadership, employee and alumni stories, program explainers, social-ready clips. A StartWell content day lets your team produce all of that in one focused session, without managing logistics, gear or crews. It also takes place in a closed set, away from office distractions.
