Since we first embarked on providing physical space for
events at StartWell two years ago, my vision has been to empower our venue with technology that enables new ways of capturing and sharing in-room experiences.

First up, we made sure that our lighting was even and inspirational; using a mixture of exposed filament LEDs with focused spot lighting to accentuate aesthetics on stage.

Secondly, our sound system has been built with wired and wireless mics, sound-barriers to limit feedback plus zones that can be independently controlled - sending louder music to different areas of the room etc...

Lastly, the room has been wired with its own dedicated fibre Internet connection and mesh WiFi network - with a newly built AV control booth its a dream to present livestreamed video as well as conduct multi-participant video conferences in the space online.
Until recently, these are all things which made it comfortable and exciting to physically participate in
events at StartWell - for hosts and attendees.
Of course, with gatherings of more than 5 people at a time being outlawed here in Ontario due to the pandemic, our event space has been quiet for weeks...
something which is now changing.
Last week I announced our series called
A New Normal, which captures perspectives of entrepreneurs and innovators working despite the pandemic. Since then, we've produced 5
audio and
video episodes and I've decided to move production to our event space.
Now that I've been working in the space I'm seeing it in a whole new light - and understand why in the past couple of years we've hosted so many tv commercial and film production crews on site.
With a stage, multiple seating setups and enough space to record small socially distanced groups in person, I'm excited be calling our event space home to
A New Normal and trust that you'll enjoy seeing the space from myriad angles in upcoming productions.
